INNOVATIVE SEED RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Our commitment to research produces proprietary turf & forage varieties respected the world over.
In 2008, we invested and partnered with our affiliate, Peak Plant Genetics and Steven Johnson.
A-LIST
The A-LIST is a national non-profit of 5 Oregon Seed companies seeking to test, identify, and promote grass varieties through independent university cooperators that combine high turf quality and low-input performance such as reduced water, chemical, and fertility.
PEAK
We question leading researchers, professionals, and distribution partners to look for new seed ideas. We identify emerging industry trends and plan programs to meet identified needs. We investigate the performance of newly developed germplasm and evaluate their potential to fulfill our customers’ needs.
GROUND BREAKING
RESEARCH
Our agronomists search for the best germplasm spans the world over. We expect continual improvement from our proprietary varieties. Our agronomists & our cooperative demands high yield to insure efficient, dependable production systems. We work closely with research programs at Rutgers, Oregon State Universities, and other public and private breeding institutions.
INDEPENDENT TESTING
We covet stringent, 3rd party tests of our varieties. National (NTEP/National Turfgrass Evaluation Program), end user, and independent quality labs (Agri-Seed, Hulsey) are all part of the necessary screening to produce persistent, quality grass seed. This testing gives us the confidence to say that our varieties perform all around the world.
SPECIALTY TRAITS
Each year, thousands of plants are screened in greenhouse, field, & demo trials. Of these, only a handful are selected for a 5 to 10 year development program. This approach is highly successful in product breakthroughs like LateralSpread, Bluemuda 365ss, and TetraMag.
