FARMER OWNED, COMMUNITY FOCUSED
In 1946, Oregon farmers founded a co-op to grow prime Willamette Valley grass seed. Over 75 years later, Mountain View Seeds’ varieties reap the benefits of that outstanding farmer network. MVS was created in 1998 to manage mounting seed demand for Pratum Co-op’s private variety production. At Mountain View Seeds we are proud to be owned by those same farmers. Being farmer owned ensures that the high quality and performance standards we demand are never compromised. Being connected to our grower base allows us to effectively communicate our needs and requirements. So, whether you are a professional sports field manager, golf course superintendent, landscaper or a homeowner the same care and attention is placed on every pound of seed we produce and sell.

Our 86-acre research and breeding facility, Peak Plant Genetics, located in Oregon, continually brings the highest quality turf to the industry. Varieties that require less water, fertilizer and provide a thicker, greener turf that is easier for the homeowner to sustain. Peak Plant Genetics’ varieties consistently rank at the top of the NTEP (National Turf Evaluation Program). Thousands of plants are screened in trials each year, we covet stringent 3rd party test of our varieties. NTEP, end user and independent quality labs are all part of the necessary screening process to produce persistent, top-quality grass seed varieties. Of these, only a few progress through our long-term development program. Developing the perfect variety can often take 10 to 15 years continually assessing for traits such as improved disease resistance, drought tolerance, wear tolerance and fast establishment.
